I film that which time wants to erase.
I film for the thousands that are no longer heard.
I film if someone wants to listen...
Even if I don't want to remember.
I film to restore hope.
I film for love.
Text adapted from Encarna Pons and Aldavert
Corbera d'Ebre is a village in Terra Alta (Tarragona) where the ruins of the old village, the one that suffered the cruelty of the battle of the Ebro, have been preserved. It is like a living picture. Those weeks of the summer-autumn of 1938, frozen forever and ever to show us what we shall never forget so that it does not happen again.
I like to visit historical places in order to try to understand the events that happened and the people who lived there. But walking through there and finding the holes from the bullet impacts, preserved purposely, puts a knot in your throat.
The audio fragment you can hear is from Dolores Ibárruri's famous speech, "La Pasionaria".
